So it’s around 90F on the East Coast right now, but it feels more like a sauna. If you find yourself in the Harvard area and want to find a nice place to sit down and regain your strength, but already too tired of Starbucks and Au Bon Pain, then head over to Cafe Pamplona or Cafe Paradiso. Both places have great coffee, iced and otherways, plus they have an assortment of other tasty treats for you to try. Both places stay open until pretty late (by New England standards) and you can sit outside and smoke if you wish.

Boston’s nightlife scene can be dreadfully boring. Those of us who came here for college and unfortunately stuck around for whatever silly reasons afterwards know that although Boston may be a tad better than, say, Boise, Idaho, in terms of nightlife, beantown’s sheer entertaining value after dark is nowhere comparable to that of NYC, or any major city in Europe or Asia. Not to say one cannot have fun in this college town, but it is indeed difficult to find a nice lounge that spins groovy underground electronic music (aside from the usual that you hear at major clubs on Lansdowne and the Theater District).

Well, Middlesex Lounge is a bit different from the norm. This lounge in Central Square, borderlining MIT, hosts live DJ’s that usually spin deep house, loungy downtempo, and indie hip hop. The drinks are relatively cheap, $4 for beers, $6 for cocktails, and $9 for you gentlemen drinking whiskey on the rocks (and the bartenders are usually quite generous with pouring you a big glass). The interior is fashionably designed and furnished, and there is space for guests to get down on the floor. People who frequent this lounge usually all exude some sort of artzy fartzy personality. Check this place out; the place is usually happening Monday ~ Sunday after 10:30pm.
