Photo Album – People in Gray

Thoughts — Kohn @ 12:15 pm
I am shooting a short film called Cellusion and it’s going to be used for my application for film school. And while shooting for it I took some scene shots and combined with some pictures I’ve taken before I created a new album for my favorite subject – People. Take a look, and if you have any kind of personal creation, may it be a little song you wrote, artzy pictures you took, fartzy paintings you created, poems, ideas, random thoughts, please simply register and post them here.

DJ – Fantastic Plastic Machine, Tomoyuki Tanaka

While we are on the subject about candy-colored Japanese girls, let’s talk about candy-colored Japanese music. And this would bring up Fantastic Plastic Machine, the leading DJ who basically invented/defined the new music genre Shibuya-Kei (meaning, Shibuya district, a major shopping/hangout district in Tokyo). FPM’s music is very much like the 2 girls down below, colorful to the point that sometimes it color-blinds you, psychedelic and happy, and usually with some kind of house beats mixed with 80’s keyboard samples, and vocals singing Bee Gees style. For starters, check out Beautiful.

Japanese culture report by MasaManiA with fucking photo & poor English you never seen at boring CNN, Time or major sophisticated jurnalism.

Yeah, Japan is cool because Japanese are cool, well, some of them. Thanks to Gwen Stefani the world now knows Japanese girls, especially the ones around Harajuku can be bitchy and punk. But you haven’t seen the truth yet, a lot of underground Japanese people take words such as rainbow, retro, funk, rock, or wacky to the next level. See it yourself at Masamania.com, it’s Japanese fartzy for you everyday!

Finally, quote “Run away after shooting before caught and kicked by ass!”

Album – Souvenirs by Ian Pooley

Arts — Kohn @ 1:48 am
The problem with lounge, downtempo, deep house kind of chill-out music these days is that the market is inundated by cheesy compilations (usually with names such as Chillout Lounge Max II, Sounds of Jazz at Night in Ebisu, Morning Cruising in Pompeii City, Brazilianovaho, etc). And the truth is, after a while they all sound the same. Souvenirs by Ian Pooley falls in one of those house/deep house genre, but not exactly loungy. It’s not as chill-out as Miguel Migs, poppy like Kaskade, or groovy like Theivery Corporation’s recent albums, but happy and upbeat. It’s a pleasant little souvenir for you electronicanos that want something soothing to the ears, but do not wish to collect CD’s named after cities around the world.

Architecture – Modern Art Museum of Fort Worth

Media, Travels — thewonderer @ 5:38 am

I was driving cross country in 2004 and Texas happened to be one of the states I had to pass through. I dropped by the Fort Worth/Dallas region partly due to a business-related reason as well. I did not have a high expectation for find anything terribly interesting in the area but I was pleasantly surprised! Forth Worth’s reputation as “the museum capital of the Southwest” is definitely well deserved! Many of the museums are indeed of world-class quality. I did not get to visit all of the museums but in the end, I was most impressed by the Modern Art Museum. The museum, the building and its surrounding, was work of art in itself. It was designed by Japanese architect Tadao Ando. The way the building was reflected in the pond was absolutely gorgeous. The pond and the reflection gave the whole environment a sense of tranquility that I could not find in other more “famous” and “bigger collection” museums across the country. However, the collections inside the museum also exceeded my expectation. When you walk in, heading toward the permanent collections, you are immediatley greeted by Anselm Kiefer’s Book with Wings (1992–94). You can even walk up to that that book, made of steel, up and personal. The rest of the museum also gives you that same very personal feeling. And every art collection is of very high quality and leaves you pondering, making the whole experience very pleasant. It is highly recommended!
